Granelli's, Macclesfield

I was born in Macclesfield on Ryles Park Rd in 1968, lived also at 155 Crompton Road and spent most of my time at my grandparents house 13 st Andrews Road.. I am a writer, and I live in France, where I've been since 1989. I'm writing a novel much of which is set in Macclesfield in the 1970's and your photos are strangely reminiscent of the 'feel' of my book which, like your photos, is quite a dark and atmospheric psycological drama which truly captures the North at a certain time. Macc in the 70's. I spent much time playing in the park when I was little. There was a park with a stuffed bear but I don't know if it was South or West park and it features in the novel. I've also written stories and poems about Macclesfield. I'll know in September if the book in is publised (I'm doing an MA in creative writing with Lancaster Uni) but I just wanted to say your photos are really lovely. Karen
